Abinger D & G Choir Events 2026
Announcement
Following the retirement of Martin Hall, the D&G Choir based at St James’ Abinger has announced that they have appointed Jody Robinson as their New Musical Director. Jody was one of a shortlist of two superb applicants for the role, but following an excellent Audition process it was clear that Jody was the outstanding candidate and ideally suited to the culture of this unique choir. Jody obtained a 1st Class Honours Degree in Music at Exeter University and was trained at the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music. She currently teaches at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire. She is experienced in singing, Voice Coaching and Musical Directing.
Chair of the D&G Administration Committee Martin Perry said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Jody to take us forward into a new era for the Choir. We felt very privileged that we attracted such high calibre interest in the role but Jody clearly demonstrated she could lift our performances to a new level and it will be very exciting to see where she can take us. She understands we like to sing a wide range of music both classical and modern and we are eagerly looking forward to having a lot of fun working and singing with her.”
Jody Robinson said: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to work with the D&G Choir.. I so enjoyed the Audition and look forward to what we can do together.”
Jody has a number of existing commitments so will commence her role in early June this year. In the meantime Lizzie Fulleylove has agreed to lead the Choir on an interim basis. Due to circumstances beyond our control the D&G choir had to postpone their Anniversary Concert but will announce a new date once Jody has taken up her role.
Anyone interested in joining the Choir should make contact with the Choir Secretary, Jess Brown – via the Contact page on this site.
